Rapolano
Terme is a beautiful village in the heart of the Tuscan countriside, which is
unqiue because of its thermal water springs, and often where there is thermal
water there is travertine. It was a source of travertine for the florid city of
Siena, both for big projects, like the façade of the Provenzano church and the summit
of the Mangia tower, as for more modest jobs, proven by many tombstones in the
ancient cemeteries of la Misericordia and il Laterino, and countless decorative
architectural elements in the area.
Currently
we possess 2 quarries that give a stone of excellent quality and beautiful
colours typical of Tuscan travertine.
From the
hard life of the sculptors and quarrymen of the past, up to the current modern
manufacturing which is exported all over the world, our travertine, and the use
that has been made of it, are an integral part of the rich cultural texture of
our territory. We are proud of it.
